TSA Imposes Airline Standards on 380 Charters
After the FAA seemed to have stepped back from new regulations for Part 135/DOT 380 by-the-seat charters, the TSA came out with new rules for operators like JSX and others this week. While the details of the security announcement are protected by ‘Sensitive Security Information’ rules, it is assumed that in 180 days, these not-really-an-airline, not-really-a-charter flights will be subject to the same machinery and TSA screening procedures as major airlines, which operators say make these operations out of some FBOs impossible.
Trump enters office, new executive orders are signed, others repealed
With 78 Executive Orders repealed and over 20 signed on day 1 of Trump’s new administration, industry associations and advisors are scrambling to digest the firehose of changes coming to BizAV. Changes to passenger information collected when flying overseas, Federal hiring freezes, and SAF/emission tracking and more are expected. The full list of executive orders and information can be accessed on the Federal Register.
Sustainability Gets Simplified

Presidential TFRs at PBI are a Little Different Than Last Time
Details of the new Presidential Temporary Flight Restrictions are officially out; while essentially the same as in previous years, some slight differences are in play this year. Like in previous years, the use of Gateway Airport Screening will be required, but now operators will need to submit information to the TSA’s Secure Flight program and all flight must be on an active IFR or VFR flight plan. Full NBAA Guidelines.
Flying to the Superbowl? Here’s what you need to know
As usual, private jets will flock to the Superbowl this year. Given the number of airfields supporting the area, New Orleans is typically less tricky. However, a reservation program will be active from February 6th to February 10th. Adam Hartley, our co-host of this week’s episode, reminds operators to prepare passengers for significant delays getting out; getting in may run relatively smooth, but getting out could incur up to 2-hour delays based on his previous experience.
